How can I access Microsoft Teams?
You can access it by logging in with your SWA e-mail address (i.e. FirstName.LastName@wnco.com) via the Microsoft Teams desktop app (Windows, Mac, Linux), a
supported browser, or the Microsoft Teams mobile device app (
iOS,
Android).
From a browser, you can access it either by going to
https://myapps.microsoft.com, signing in with you SWA e-mail address, and clicking on the
Teams app, or by going directly to
https://teams.microsoft.com and signing in. Then, you will need to click on the
Use the web app instead link at the bottom of the page.
Where can I get the Microsoft Teams desktop app?
During production release, if it is not already installed, or your need to re-install it, you will be able to do so from Software Center (under the Applications tab). You can also download and install it from
here.

What browsers are supported for Microsoft Teams?
Can multiple people work on the same document simultaneously in Microsoft Teams?
Yes! With Microsoft Teams’s real-time co-authoring of files, each person who has permission to edit the document can work on the same document at once, see the changes immediately and rest assured that Microsoft Teams is automatically updating the file as they go. This means you’re not locked out of a document even when one of your co-workers has it open on their computer.
What if I don’t want to edit files in the Microsoft Teams client or my web browser, can I edit them using my desktop application?
Yes! If you want to edit using your client application instead, do the following.
If looking at the file name on the Files tab in the Microsoft Teams desktop client: Click on the triple-dots (...) next to the file name and choose Open in Desktop App.
If the file is already open in the Microsoft Teams desktop client: Click on the triple-dots (...) in the upper, right-hand corner of the screen and choose Open in <application; Ex: Excel>.
Please note that with the currently installed Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc...), if you have the file opened in the desktop app it will lock the file for editing so that other users will be unable to edit the file until you have closed the file in the desktop app.
What if I lose my internet connection while I’m working in Microsoft Teams. Is my work still saved?
Yes! Let’s say the coffee shop is closing and you’re halfway through edits to an Excel spreadsheet using Microsoft Teams’s Excel web app. You close the hood on your laptop, drive home and pick back up on your project later that evening. You may have severed the Wi-Fi connection at the coffee shop, but as soon as you reestablish a network connection at home, Microsoft Teams automatically updates your file for you, so you don’t lose a thing.
Can I go back to look at previous file versions in Microsoft Teams?

Can I assign unique permissions to each employee in Teams?
Yes! You can set up varying levels of permissions for each user, or specific permissions for a directory or file allowing you to apply security on a granular level. You can set a rule that requires users to check out documents in order to edit them or you can specify how many historical versions of a document should be kept.
Can alerts be set up to notify users that there are updates to content?
Yes! You can set up alerts for individuals or an entire team. You can choose the type of alert, the changes to send alerts for, and when to send them.
Does Teams work with Microsoft SharePoint?
Yes! According to Microsoft, they work better together. In Microsoft Teams, you automatically have a SharePoint site where channel and documents are stored. Using SharePoint or personal OneDrive accounts to store files for use in Microsoft Teams has many advantages, including the ability to access files without leaving Teams, using document co-authoring, and bringing the security and compliances of SharePoint and OneDrive files to Teams.
Is VPN required to access Teams outside of the corporate network?
No! It can be accessed from anywhere on the Internet.
